Bangladesh vs Australia: Ahead of the T20I series against Australia, Bangladeshi players suffering injuries has become a cause of concern for the host team. Liton Das and Mustafizur Rahman are suffering from a left thigh injury and ankle injury, respectively. However, chief selector, Minhajul Abedin expects the two players to be fit for the third of the five matches, which is due to be played on 6th August 2021.
Liton Das sustained the injury during the first T20I on July 20, which forced him to miss the remaining games. On the other hand, Mustafizur Rahman played only one ODI and one T20I during the tour after sustaining an ankle injury on July 14 during a tour match.
“Liton and Mustafiz should be available from the second or third game,” Abedin told ESPNcricinfo. “We are not too worried about them. They will be back. Overall, we are confident about the squad. We have just won a T20 series [away against Zimbabwe].”
Besides, Saumya Sarkar is also suffering from a groin injury, while Shakib Al Hasan is recovering from a long-standing groin injury.
As per the agreement between both the boards, only the players, who were either quarantined in Dhaka or were part of the Bangladesh-Zimbabwe series, and in Australia’s case, the West Indies are also to participate in the upcoming five-match T20 series. Tamim Iqbal and Mustafizur Rahman were unavailable for the Zimbabwe series due to different reasons. Mushfiqur Rahim and Aminul Islam had to leave for Bangladesh midway in the series due to personal reasons.
Bangladesh has added Taijul Islam, Rubel Hossain, Mohammad Mithun, and Mosaddek Hossain, who were part of the ODI squad, to make up for the missing players in the T20I squad.
