Melbourne Renegades will square up against Hobart Hurricanes in the 26th match of the BBL 2021-22 on Wednesday at Docklands Stadium. There is no denying the fact that Melbourne Renegades have been the worst-performing team this season so far. With only 1 win in 5 matches, Melbourne Renegades are languishing at the bottom of the points table.
They have lost their last two games against Perth Scorchers. Aaron Finch got out after scoring just 8 runs off 7 deliveries. He needs to step up to the plate if the Scorchers have to make a comeback in the tournament. Mackenzie Harvey (45 off 40) and Sam Harper (32 off 25) played well in the last game, however, the fans would want them to play big knocks and with better strike rates.
The likes of Maddinson (3), Fraser-McGurk(6), and Nabi (6) all got out on low scores. Given their potential with the bat, one should expect them to perform better than this. Against a powerful Perth Scorchers, Melbourne Renegades only managed to score 151 runs in the first innings. The latter had no trouble in chasing down the score. They finished the game in just 16.5 overs. Madison and Zahir Khan took one wicket apiece, picking the first two wickets for 53 runs in the first seven overs.
However, the Melbourne Renegades didn’t get any wicket thereafter and thus suffered their fourth defeat this season. On the other hand, Hobart Hurricanes are sitting at number three on the table with 3 wins in 6 matches. They have blown hot and cold thus far in the tournament. Their recent form, however, inspires a lot of confidence. The Hurricanes are coming into the game on the back of two consecutive wins.
They conceded 175 runs in the first innings against Adelaide Strikers in the last game. Riley Meredith took three wickets but other than that, there wasn’t much of a contribution from the bowlers. Hobart Hurricanes chased down the score in just 18.3 overs, thanks to an unbeaten 110-run knock from Ben McDermott. D Arcy Short, scored 37 off 32 balls, including 3 fours and 1 six. The Hurricanes would be keen to extend their winning run in the tournament.
