Perth Scorchers take on Brisbane Heat in the 53rd match of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2021-22 in Melbourne. Perth Scorchers have been a force to be reckoned with in the tournament.
In 13 matches, they have managed to win 10 matches and thus are sitting at the top of the table. Though, they are coming off a humiliating 6-wicket defeat at the hands of Adelaide Strikers.
A combined bowling effort from Adelaide Strikers helped them bundle Perth Scorchers for just 127 runs in the first innings. The likes of Kurtis Patterson (25 off 19), Laurie Evans (39 off 31), and Turner (28 off 15) were guilty of not converting the starts into big scores.
The rest of the batsmen got out in single-digit scores. Adelaide Strikers chased down the score in 17 overs. For Perth Scorchers, Aaron Hardie picked 3 for 31 in 4 overs.
Brisbane Heat, on the other hand, is sitting at second from the bottom of the points table. In 12 matches, they have only managed to win 3 matches and are coming into this game on the back of four consecutive losses.
Brisbane Heat played their last game against Melbourne Stars. Batting first, Brisbane Heat managed to score 149 runs in the first innings. Ben Duckett played yet another swashbuckling 51-run knock off 42 deliveries. However, he got little support from the other end.
Melbourne Stars, in reply, chased down the score in just 13.5 overs. Joe Clarke wreaked havoc with the bat as he smashed 62 off 36 deliveries. He stitched a 104-run opening partnership to kill the game in just halfway mark of the innings. Brisbane Heat would be hoping to get back to winning ways ahead of their next game on Monday.
