The 20th match of the BBL 2021-22 will have Sydney Sixers take on Sydney Thunder at Sydney Showground Stadium on Sunday. Sydney Sixers have been outstanding thus far in the tournament. With 4 wins in 5 matches, they are currently sitting at number two on the BBL 2021-22 points table. Sixers played their last game against Adelaide Strikers.
A combined bowling effort from the team helped the Sixers restrict Adelaide Strikers to 147 runs in the first innings. Sean Abbott and Dan Christian ran through Adelaide’s batting unit as the duo picked the first six wickets for just 107 runs.
Both picked three wickets each in the game. Later, cameos from Phillippe (23 off 20), Vince (21 off 24), Henriques (28 off 26) and a late assault from Jordan Silk (36 off 24) helped the team win the match in 19.4 overs. Sydney Sixers would look to extend their winning run and make their case stronger for the playoffs.
Facing them are Sydney Thunder, who have blown hot and cold this season. In 4 matches, they have managed to win 2 matches and thus are sitting at number four on the points table. Sydney Thunder is coming into the game on the back of a 53-run win over the Brisbane Heat.
Riding on a mouth-watering knock from Sam Billings (64 off 27), Sydney Thunder managed to post 196 runs in the first innings. He hit five sixes and as many fours during his match-winning knock. Brisbane Heat lost wickets in a cluster in pursuit of the chase, and, in the end, fell 53 runs short of the target.
Saqib Mahmood was the pick of the bowlers for the Thunder as he picked 4 wickets for 22 runs in 3 overs. Tanveer Sangha also exhibited an outstanding spell of 3 for 26 in 3.3 overs. Both the teams are in exceptional form and one can expect a cracker of a contest on Sunday.
