Amidst the ongoing Big Bash 2021-22 tournament, Sydney Sixers have roped in Pakistan speedster Mohammad Hasnain in a bid to strengthen their pace attack. Mohammad Hasnain is hailed as one of the future stars in Pakistan Cricket.
He came to the limelight after picking a hat-trick against Sri Lanka at the age of 19. So far, he has played 18 T20 internationals and 8 ODIs for Pakistan, picking 17 and 12 wickets respectively.
He was part of the Pakistan team for the recently concluded T20 series against the West Indies. He played in one of the three games but didn’t perform to his potential. In 4 overs, he conceded 49 runs without a wicket to his name. Nevertheless, he has all the attributes to be a great fast bowler and is likely to get more chances in the future.
“He bowls fast; easily at 150 km/h,” said Ben Cutting. “He’s a lovely young kid, and his team back home is keen for him to learn about the game and to also come out here and bowl fast.
“Muhammad is going to love bowling in Australia. We have faster pitches and bigger boundaries – conditions that are far more conducive to bowling fast than they are in Pakistan.
“I have no doubt he’s going to enjoy the experience, and I know he’ll be a tremendous addition to Sydney Thunder’s squad.”
The addition of Hasnain will strengthen Thunder’s bowling attack. The team will play their next game against Sydney Sixers on 26th December 2021. Mohammad Hasnain is the team’s fourth overseas player. The other three are Alex Hales, Sam Billings and Saqib Mahmood.
