Australian pacer James Pattinson has parted relations with the Melbourne Renegades and will not represent them in the Big Bash League in 2022. Prior to the 2020 season, Pattinson committed to a three-year deal with the Renegades, however, he will now leave the team after just one season. In a statement released on June 23rd, the Renegades declared that to be true. James Pattinson has been suffering from injuries for a long time.
“Unfortunately I could only commit to part of the season given my state and overseas cricket commitments. I’ll need to take a break in December to give my body a rest and also want to spend that Christmas period with family. I’d like to thank the Renegades for my time there and wish them all the best for the season,” Pattinson was quoted as saying.
BBL Teams to negotiate with Domestic players
The BBL teams are now willing to negotiate contracts with domestic players, and a new draught procedure has been implemented to choose the foreign players for this season.
James Rosengarten, general manager of the Melbourne Renegades, said, “We understand the position he’s in with regard to prioritizing his County and State cricketing responsibilities and appreciate him being forthright with us.
“Since James is only available for a portion of the season, we believe that using this listed space on a player who can completely commit to the Renegades for the entirety of BBL|12 is the wisest course of action for us. The time of this choice enables our list management team to weigh that player’s contribution against potential targets for the overseas player draught,” He added.
James is an experienced campaigner who has also represented the Australian team in 21 test matches where he took 81 wickets with a brilliant average of 26.33. The pacer has also represented the white-ball side of Australia in 15 ODIs and 4 T20I.
