Shakib Al Hasan is one of five Bangladeshi men’s cricketers who have been given central contracts for all three forms by the BCB this year. Despite Shakib’s absence from four Tests so far this year, the decision was made.
Shakib missed the New Zealand Tests in January for to personal issues, and he caused a stir when he said that his physical and emotional health would prevent him from touring South Africa later this month. Following that, the BCB granted him a one-month suspension from all international cricket matches until April 30.
Jalal Yunus, the BCB’s cricket operations chairman, claimed on Wednesday that Shakib had backed down from his earlier desire to be kept out of Tests until mid-November. However, the BCB’s statement on Thursday indicated that Shakib will be eligible for the remainder of this year’s Tests.
Mushfiqur Rahim, Litton Das, Taskin Ahmed, and Shoriful Islam were retained by the BCB for all-formats contracts, as they were in 2021.
Mohammad Saifuddin, Soumya Sarkar, Saif Hassan, Abu Jayed, and Shamim Hossain are the two newcomers with Test contracts, whereas Mohammad Saifuddin, Soumya Sarkar, Saif Hassan, Abu Jayed, and Shamim Hossain were offloaded by the BCB.
Tamim Iqbal, who has declared that he will take a six-month vacation from T20Is this year, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz have been given Tests and ODI contracts, same as the previous year. Mustafizur Rahman and Mahmudullah, who retired from Test cricket last year, have ODI and T20I contracts. Taijul Islam was demoted after being awarded a Test-only deal, rather than the Tests and ODIs contract he had the previous year.
The BCB, on the other hand, did not reveal the monthly salary or match costs for any format.
