The Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCC) released the revised squad of the Indian team for the upcoming tour of Australia. Limited-overs vice captain Rohit Sharma who was not included in the team earlier makes a return to the side.
He will also play in the four-match Test series of the Border-Gavaskar series as one of the frontline batsmen in the middle-order.
The selection committee has rested him for the limited-overs series, allowing him to rest and recover completely from the hamstring injury he sustained.
The committee has also granted paternity leave to the skipper Virat Kohli after the Day-Night Test match at Adelaide. He will travel back to India as he is expecting the delivery of his first child in January.
Ajinkya Rahane will lead as the deputy in absence of Virat Kohli in the final two Tests of the series in Kohli’s absence.
