Jasprit Bumrah’s exclusion from the fourth Test against England had created several questions among the fans last week. And suddenly, he also opt-out from the white-ball series comprising of five T20Is and three ODIs left the fans baffled.
But it turns out, the star pacer opt-out of the squad to prepare for his marriage, one of the sources of BCCI said. Bumrah had already asked the BCCI for leave as he is about to get married.
The BCCI source confirmed the news about the pacer’s marriage implying to why he took leave from the national duty.
“He informed the BCCI that he is getting married and has taken the leave to help in preparations for the big day,” the source said.
The 27-year-old only played only two Test matches against England and rested during the second test in Chennai, which India won by 317 runs.
The hosts are already 2-1 in the Test series and will look to make the tally 3-1 in the fourth and the final Test of the Test series. It will just be a matter of either winning or drawing the fourth Test that would lead to their qualification into the finals of the World Test Championship.
The five-match T20I series will begin on March 11, followed by three-match ODI series in Pune. Bumrah’s absence would enable the Indian team management to try youngsters for the entire white-ball series.
