The Black Caps are all set to travel to Bangladesh for a five-match T20 International series in September. Bangladesh Cricket Board will host five T20 internationals at Shere Bangla Stadium, which would act as a preparation for the T20 World Cup. The series will be held between 1st and 10th September 2021.
Bangladesh is currently playing a five-match T20 series against Australia at home. They have secured a 1-0 lead in the series and would be aiming to continue their winning momentum.
On the other hand, the upcoming series would act as ideal preparation for them ahead of the T20 World Cup. They last played an international match in the World Test Championship final against India, which they won by 7 wickets.
Earlier, Bangladesh was scheduled to play a white-ball series against England in September-October. However, both the boards have mutually agreed to postpone the series until March 2023.
Bangladesh’s senior players namely Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim, who aren’t part of the Bangladesh team in the ongoing T20 series against Australia, are also likely to make their presence felt against the Blackcaps. The New Zealand player will depart to UAE to participate in the remainder of IPL 2021 after the completion of the T20 series against Bangladesh.
“New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson, Trent Boult, James Neesham, and Lockie Ferguson will feature in the second phase of the IPL 2021 in the UAE,” White had stated as quoted by the GEO TV.
The Black Caps will also compete in a limited-overs series against Pakistan away from home in the September-October window. However, the tour will only go forward if New Zealand is satisfied with the security measures set in place.
