Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Tuesday expressed interest to host the 2025 edition of Champions Trophy. BCB president Nazmul Hasan also asserted that the board possesses the necessary standard infrastructure for the tournament.
BCB board members unanimously decided to participate in the vote of hosts for the ICC Men’s Events between 2024-31. The management conducted the meeting with the conclusion that directors Mohammed Jalal Yunus and Ahmed Sajjadul Alam will partake in the procedure.
”There are lots of issues (in order to solely host the Men’s World Cup). We will need to have 10 full fledged stadiums. It is the same for whoever is interested to bid for the event. So that is not possible for us because we do not have so many venues. Hosting even the T20 World Cup solely is a challenge for us but we will sit and discuss with some of the neighbouring countries to see whether we can become a co-host,” Nazmul Hasan said.
“However there is the Champions Trophy which is possible for us to host. We have decided to bid to solely host the Champions Trophy,” he added.
During the 10th meeting, the board directors also decided the date of the Annual General Meeting of BCB i.e., July 7 in Dhaka.
Nazmul Hasan also gave an update on the finalisation of contract list but refused to disclose it until BCB Cricket Operations Committee reviews it.
“The national contract is finalized but we cannot disclose it right now as some changes will be made,” Hasan cited.
Additionally, BCB also confirmed the approval of the Women’s National Player contract comprising of 22 cricketers with the salary hike as well. BCB had already confirmed the development in August last year on salary increment of women cricketers.
