West Indies cricketer Chris Gayle expressed gratitude towards India for sending Covid-19 vaccines to Jamaica under the Vaccine Maitri initiative, on Friday. For the unversed, the Government of India has launched Vaccine Maitri initiative with an aim of assistant other countries to combat Covid-19.
As many as 50,000 Made-In-India vaccines reached Jamaica last week. In a video posted by the official Twitter handle of India in Jamaica, Chris Gayle could be seen thanking the the Government for their constant support.
“Honourable Prime Minister Modi, people of India and Government of India, I want to thank you for the donation of vaccine to Jamaica. We appreciate it, thank you so much. India I will be seeing you soon and thanks once again,” said the West Indies cricketer.
Earlier, Andre Russell also thanked the Government of India for extending support to the Caribbean states.
” I am extremely pleased to report that yesterday afternoon, we received our first shipment of 50,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine donated by the Government of India. We express our deep appreciation to the Government and people of India for this very much-needed support.” He said in a video posted by the official Twitter handle of India in Jamaica.
West Indies recently announced Kraigg Brathwaite as their new skipper for the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. They outclassed Sri Lanka in both the T20 and ODI series and would look to replicate similar results in the Test series as well.
