Adding another first to her name, Claire Polosak is all set to become the first-ever female match official to be part of men’s Test cricket. Polosak created history when she was offered to take up the position of the fourth umpire in the third Test out of the four-match Test series of the Gavaskar-Border Trophy at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).
The on-field umpires of the Test match will be Paul Reiffel and Paul Wilson, while Bruce Oxenford will serve as the TV Umpire.
Claire Polosak was chosen by Cricket Australia itself for the role. She had made history in 2019 as well by becoming the first female umpire to stand in a men’s ODI when she was named as an umpire in the final of the the ICC World Cricket League Division 2 on April 27, 2019.
“I am thrilled to be the first woman to stand in a men’s ODI and how far I have come as an umpire. It really is important to promote women umpires and there’s no reason why females can’t umpire in cricket. It’s about breaking down barriers, creating awareness so more females can come into the role,” Claire had said on her achievement back then.
