Trinbago Knight Riders vs St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots Match Preview: Trinbago Knight Riders face off St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the 27th match of CPL 2021 on Sunday. The two teams are currently sitting at the top two spots on the points table.
Trinbago Knight Riders didn’t start the tournament too well, having won two out of their first five games. However, they are unbeaten ever since. They have won their last three matches and would be wanting to continue their winning momentum. Their last two matches are against St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots. Given the current form Patriots are in, Pollard and Co. would be confident of beating them in both games.
Trinbago Knight Riders faced their last match against Barbados Royals. The Royals faltered against spinners badly as they were bundled out for just 93 runs. The spinners comprising of Sunil Narine, Khary Pierre and Akeal Hosein sprung a web around Barbados batsmen and picked 7 wickets between them.
Trinbago Knight Riders didn’t make a great start to the chase. They lost both the openers inside three overs. However, Colin Munro ensured he remain unbeaten and guide the team home comfortably. He scored 41 runs off 47 balls as Trinbago chased down the total in 16.5 overs.
St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots, on the other hand, are going through a rough patch. They are coming into the contest on the back of three consecutive losses. Dwayne Bravo’s injury has made things tough for them. Though they are still well placed at number two on the table and one win out of their last two games could seal their berth for the playoffs.
St. Kitts played against Jamaica Tallawahs in their last match. Jamaica Tallawahs took the bowlers on a leather hunt and posted 169 in the first innings. Fawad Ahmed and Jon-Russ Jaggesar picked two wickets each but overall it wasn’t an ideal performance from the bowlers.
The batting performance wasn’t good either. Devon Smith played an uncharacteristic knock of 35 runs off 36 balls. Chris Gayle (12 off 10) and Joshua Da Silva (28 off 31) got starts but couldn’t go on to guide their team home. Chris Gayle and Co. could only manage to score 147 runs in the second innings, thereby falling short of 22 runs.
