CPL 2021 Semi Final-2 Match Preview: The second semi-final of the CPL 2021 sees St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots take on Guyana Amazon Warriors on Tuesday at Warner Park.
St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots were sensational in the first half of the tournament. They won all the first five games they played this season. However, they could only win one game in their last five encounters. Dwayne Bravo’s injury took a toll on the team’s performances. The good thing is that he is fit and would be available for the important match on Tuesday.
St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots played their last two matches against Trinbago Knight Riders. They won the first game against them and followed it with a defeat. They are coming into the semi-final on the back of a 4-wicket win against Trinbago Knight Riders. Dwayne Bravo and Co. batted first but couldn’t make a great start to the innings. Chris Gayle went back after scoring only 5 runs off 4 balls. Wicket-keeper Joshua Da Silva, however, played a useful 50-run knock off 45 balls. Sherfane Rutherford played an uncharacteristic knock of 25 runs off 28 balls. Given the kind of form he is in, he wouldn’t be too happy with his performance. Dwayne Bravo’s 13-ball 25-run cameo, however, guided the team to 147 in 20 overs.
Naseem Shah and Dominic Drakes made a great start with the ball and didn’t give away easy runs. They conceded less than 6 an over in the first 10 overs and also picked 3 crucial wickets of Simmons, Ramdin and Munro. However, Kieron Pollard’s 22-ball 51 turned the game pretty quickly. Isuru Udana played a handy 16-ball 25-run knock later to guide the team to a 4-wicket win in the end.
On the other hand, Guyana Amazon Warriors find themselves at the second position on the points table. They managed to win 6 games out of 10. They have made a great comeback into the tournament with three consecutive wins. In the last game against Jamaica Tallawahs, they won the game by 14 runs.
Guyana Amazon Warriors lost seven wickets for just 75 runs in 12 overs. while batting first in the first innings. Romario Shepherd, however, produced a sensational 72-run knock off 31 balls to propel the total to 142 in the end. He later picked 3 wickets to help his side bundle out Jamaica for 128 runs. There have been different heroes in different games for Guyana this season. It will be interesting to see who steps in the important semi-final on Tuesday.
