The ongoing ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 has caused a significant fluctuation in the weekly cricket rankings in women’s ODI standings.
Beth Mooney has made some major gains, moving up two points to a rating of 725 after scores of 30* and 28*, giving steadiness in Australia’s middle order. She ranks second in the ODI batting rankings. Compatriots Meg Lanning (715) and Rachael Haynes (712) have also moved up to the fourth and fifth place, respectively, with Laura Wolvaardt’s strong start to the event mirrored in a two-spot leap to third.
Nat Sciver of England was the greatest climber in the top 10, moving up four spaces, while Smriti Mandhana joins the top ten with a rating of 663.
Maddy Green surged 12 places to 28th after a busy week at the crease, scoring 30 against South Africa and a half-century against England, earning her career-best rating of 480. Yastika Bhatia’s strong run in India was also reflected in the current adjustments, with the left-hander rising eight places to 39th, while Muneeba Ali, fresh off a historic victory for Pakistan against the West Indies and hitting 37, jumped six places to 57th.
South Africans finish fourth, fifth, and sixth, with Shabnim Ismail edging out Marizanne Kapp. Ayabonga Khaka’s two-place surge puts her ahead of Jhulan Goswami and Ellyse Perry, demonstrating that the Proteas’ bowling success has been a team effort.
Kate Cross has risen three places to sixth (623), while England teammate Anya Shrubsole has risen four places to eleventh. Jess Kerr of New Zealand jumped six places to 21st, while Pakistan spinners Nida Dar (up five spaces to 24th) and Anam Amin (up two spots to 31st) had similar success as their batting counterparts.
Charlie Dean has had a strong start to the World Cup, with her statistics of 4/23 against India catalysing a 15-place climb to 40th. Pooja Vastrakar rose 13 places, while Frankie Mackay’s inspirational four-wicket haul in New Zealand’s late push against England boosted him 14 places.
Nat Sciver has gained ground on the Australian owing to a solid week in both disciplines. Ash Gardner’s heroics have lifted her ahead of Deepti Sharma in sixth place, while Jhulan Goswami’s cameos with the bat have brought her up to ninth. Hayley Matthews and Kapp, who were vying for Player of the Tournament honours, are still in third and fourth place, respectively.
Alyssa Healy (730) continues to rein the ODI batting rankings, while Ellyse Perry remains the leading all-rounder. On the bowling front, spinner Sophie Ecclestone maintained her No. 1 rank.
