CSK vs KKR, IPL 2021, Match 38, Match Preview: The 38th match of IPL 2021 will have Chennai Super Kings (CSK) take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday. Both the teams are in scintillating form and one can expect it to be a cracker of a contest. CSK have continued their dominance in IPL 2021 with two consecutive wins in UAE. With 7 matches in 9 games, they are sitting at the second position on the points table and one more win can confirm their playoff berth.
CSK exhibited a complete performance in the last game against Royal Challengers Bangalore. On a batting paradise in Sharjah, CSK restricted RCB to only 156 runs in the first innings. Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal gave the side a blistering start as the duo added 90 runs in the first 10 overs.
However, Dhoni and Co. made a stellar comeback in the latter half of the innings. DJ Bravo sent Virat Kohli back to the hut in the 14th over and what followed what a brutal collapse. DJ Bravo picked two more wickets, while Shardul Thakur picked two. RCB, as a result, could only manage to score 66 runs in the next 10 overs.
Rituraj Gaikwad, once again, starred with the bat. He scored 38 runs off 26 balls and helped his team get off to a fine start. Faf du Plessis too played a decent 31-run knock off 26 balls. Moeen Ali and Ambati Rayudu later stitched a 41-run partnership. MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina gave the finishing touches as CSK chase down the score in 18.1 overs.
KKR, on the other hand, have won both games they have played in UAE this season. Thanks to those two wins, KKR has climbed to the fourth position on the points table. KKR won their last game against Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets. They restricted MI to 155 runs in the first innings. Lockie Ferguson and Prasidh Krishna were once again brilliant with the ball, picking two wickets each. Venkatesh Iyer scored the first half-century of his IPL career and helped the team chase down the score in just 15.1 overs. Rahul Tripathi was sensational as well, scoring 74 off 42 balls.
