Delhi Capitals (DC) will take on Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 13th match of IPL 2021 on Tuesday. The last time these two sides met, MI beat DC to win the 2020 IPL title. Delhi Capitals would look avenge of that heart-crushing defeat in the DC vs MI clash.
However, under a new skipper in Rishab Pant, it isn’t going to be an easy task. Both sides have won 2 wins in three games and are coming off with a win in their respective last games.
Mumbai Indians didn’t start the tournament on a good note, having lost the season opener against RCB. However, a sensational spell from Rahul Chahar in the next game turned the fortunes around for the defending champions. They won their next two games and are currently sitting at third in the points table.
Skipper Rohit Sharma looked solid in the last game but unfortunately got out. One could expect him to deliver the goods and play a big knock on Tuesday. Two of the powerful hitters of the bowl, Hardik Pandya and Ishan Kishan would be under pressure as they haven’t done anything significant in the tournament. More than the batting, it’s their bowling that has stepped up for them. Rahul Chahar, Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah are three vital cogs in the bowling line up. Delhi should come with a plan to counter the trio or they could also find themselves in trouble.
Delhi Capitals also have had a similar journey so far in the tournament. They lost their first game, followed by two wins. They would look to keep the winning momentum going. Shikhar Dhawan’s great form has been the biggest positive for them. The southpaw has been in fine touch. However, the other players too ought to showcase better performance and play similar knocks. Prithvi Shaw and Rishabh Pant would be two of the players to watch out for in the contest.
It remains to be seen which four overseas players would Delhi choose in the much-awaited DC vs MI game against MI.
