Delhi Capitals (DC) head coach Ricky Ponting wouldn’t be attending the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 auction scheduled for February 18 in Chennai as confirmed by a DC official.
Assistant coaches Mohammed Kaif and Pravin Amre, along with the other members of the team management including Chairman Kiran Kumar Grandhi, one of the team owners Parth Jindal or Sajjan Jindal, and the analyst team would be representing the franchise in the IPL 2021 auction on Thursday.
“Ricky (Ponting) and Shreyas Iyer will not be going to Chennai. Instead, Kaif and Amre will be part of team management. Besides them, the Chairman, owners and analysts will be travelling to Chennai,” the DC official said.
In the previous season, Delhi Capitals finished at the second position with 16 points from 14 matches. For the upcoming season, the franchise has retained 19 players, including big guns namely Ajinkya Rahane, R Ashwin, and Kagiso Rabada among others.
