In a big boost to RCB’s IPL 2021 ambitions, Devdutt Padikkal has joined RCB’s camp after testing negative in the recent Covid-19 test. He was earlier put to quarantine following a positive result two weeks back. Devdutt’s inclusion means that he would now be available for RCB’s opening game against MI.
“We are pleased to inform that Royal Challengers Bangalore, left-handed batsman Devdutt Padikkal, has joined the team on 7th April 2021 with negative reports for Covid-19 as per BCCI protocols,” the franchise said in a statement.
“RCB medical team was in constant touch with Devdutt to ensure his safety and well-being.”
Devdutt Padikkal also thanked his fans for their constant support and wishes. He assured his fans that he is completely fine and is all set to join the RCB squad.
“First of all, I would like to thank everyone for their wishes and prayers. It is really important to me and means a lot to me. As you know, I had tested positive two weeks back for Covid-19. As per BCCI and IPL protocols, I had to quarantine at home for two weeks but now I’ve joined the camp after two negative camps. I’m feeling completely fine and can’t wait to join the RCB camp,” Padikkal said in a video posted by the RCB’s official Twitter handle.
Devdutt Padikkal had an outstanding start to his IPL career. He ended as the leading run-getter for RCB last year. He scored 473 runs in 15 matches at an average of 31.53. RCB will play the IPL 2021 opener against Mumbai on 9th April 2021.
