Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has reacted to Shakib Al Hasan’s unruly behaviour on the field during a Dhaka Premier League match. Sehwag, known for his sharp-witted remarks and opinions, took to Twitter to express his views on the Bangladeshi all-rounder’s shocking outburst. He had a humorous take on the incident this time as well.
Sehwag shared an old photo that features Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina holding Hasan’s ear and added a sad face emoji. The image shared by Sehwag is from the time when Bangladesh had defeated Australia in a home Test match.
Dhaka Premier League: Shakib Al Hasan controversy
Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan gave rise to another controversy during the ongoing Dhaka Premier League match against Abahani Limited. During Friday’s game, the 34-year old lost his cool on the on-field umpire’s decision. Not just once but twice, following which he misbehaved to express his anger.
The first instance was when kicked, uprooted, and threw the stumps while engaging in a heated argument with the on-field umpire after he was denied an lbw. The second time he lost his temper was when the umpire called off the game due to rain.
The clip of the match instantly went viral. Shakib Al Hasan later apologized for his reaction. He posted an apology on his Facebook account.
“Dear fans and followers, I am extremely sorry for losing my temper and ruining the match for everyone and especially those who are watching from home. An experienced player like me should not have reacted that way but sometimes against all odds it happens unfortunately. I apologise to the teams, management, tournament officials and organizing committee for this human error. Hopefully, I won’t be repeating this again in the future. Thanks and love you all,” he wrote on Facebook.
Shakib is the skipper of Mohammedan. On Friday, Mohammedan and Abhani Limited locked horns during which the Shakib-led team posted 145 for 6 batting first. It was a breezy victory for Mohammedan as they won by 31 runs.
