END vs NED 3rd ODI: England registered a series whitewash on Thursday after beating the Netherlands by 8 wickets in the third one-day international. Skipper, Eoin Morgan didn’t play the third game and Jos Buttler led the team in his absence. England won the toss and opted to ball first. Batting first, the Netherlands managed to score 244 runs at the end of the first innings.
The opener, Vikramjit Singh got out early but Max ODowd and Tom Cooper made a good recovery as the duo added a 72-run partnership for the second wicket. Tom Cooper got out after scoring 33 runs in 37 balls, while ODowd scored a half-century before Liam Livingstone had him in the 25th over.
Bas de Leede, later, played another valuable knock of 56 runs in 78 balls and received a valuable contribution from Edwards, who scored 64 runs in 72 balls. Thanks to all those contributions, the Netherlands managed to score 244 runs in the first innings.
For England, David Willey starred with the ball as he returned with bowling figures of 4 for 36 runs in 8.2 overs. Brydon Carse also chipped in with 2 wickets, while Livingstone and Rashid picked one each.
In reply, England chased down the score in just 30.1 overs. Jason Roy and Phil Salt gave the team an excellent start as the duo added 85 runs for the opening wicket. Philip Salt got out in the 10th over after scoring 49 runs in 30 balls, while David Malan followed him after playing just 2 balls in his innings. He got out for a duck.
Jason Roy and Jos Buttler ensured that England didn’t lose any wicket thereafter and helped England chase down the target with 8 wickets in hand.
Jason Roy played an unbeaten knock of 101 runs in 86 balls, while Jos Buttler continued his brilliant run with 64-ball 86.
