ENG vs NZ: England Test team announced their 14-man squad for the third Test against New Zealand on Thursday. Surrey seam fast bowler, Jamie Overton has been included in the squad for the third and final Test match. He will join his twin brother Craig Over in the 14-man squad.
Jamie Overton has been included in the squad, following his outstanding performance in the County Championship division one. He picked 21 wickets this season. The 28-year-old hasn’t enjoyed a great career due to constant injuries. For the unversed, he received his maiden call-up in England’s ODI squad back in 2013. However, the Englishman is yet to play a game for England in international cricket.
Apart from him, the rest of the 13-man squad is the same as the one announced for the 2nd Test.
No twins have played international cricket for England before, a record that seems likely to stay intact given Craig has been an unused squad member in the first two games against the Kiwis. England has won already won the series, having taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Playing his first Test as England’s Test captain, Ben Stokes led England to a 5-wicket win in the first Test. Joe Root starred with the bat as he played a match-winning 115-run knock in 170 Tests. England then registered an unbelievable win in the second Test, thanks to a sensational ton from Jonny Bairstow and an unbeaten fifty from Ben Stokes.
