ENG vs SA 3rd ODI: The third ODI between England and South Africa is scheduled to be played on Sunday at Headingley Cricket Ground in Leeds. The series is currently levelled at 1-1 with only one match left to be played. South Africa made a roaring start to the series with a 62-run win. But England bounced back with a 118-run win in the second ODI.
The second ODI was reduced to 29 overs due to rain. Batting first, England was bundled out in 28.1 overs but managed to post a pretty good score of 210 runs on the board. None of the players scored a big knock but there were a lot of notable cameos throughout the innings.
Jason Roy (14) and Jonny Bairstow (28) got starts but couldn’t convert those. The likes of Salt (17), Root (1), and Moeen Ali (6) got out on low scores. Jos Buttler looked good for his 19 off 17 but Livingstone (38) and Sam Curran (35) meant England managed to reach a pretty good score.
For South Africa, Dwaine Pretorius starred with the ball, picking 4 for 36 runs in 6 overs. The likes of Shamsi and Nortje picked two each. South Africa never got going during the chase. R Topley accounted for the wickets for Janneman Malan and Rassie van der Dussen for nought, while Quinton de Kock got out after scoring 5 runs in 9 balls.
Aiden Markram got run-out without even facing a single delivery. Heinrich Klaasen held firm and played a 33-run knock of 40 balls, including 2 fours. But, once he got out, it was all but over for South Africa. The Proteas, eventually, were bundled out for 83 runs on the board.
Adil Rashid starred with the ball, picking 3 for 29 in 6 overs, while R Topley and Ali claimed two each.
