ENG vs WI: Despite a fighting knock from Kraigg Brathwaite, England managed to take a lead of 136 runs at the end of the fourth day’s play of the second Test between England and the West Indies. West Indies had lost four wickets at the start of the day and had managed to score 288 runs in the second innings. Skipper Kraigg Brathwaite continued to showcase his batting prowess on the fourth day as well.
He went on to compile a brilliant 150-run but lacked support from the other end. Most of the key batsmen had already got back to the pavilion. A Joseph could only add 19 more runs, while Jason Holder got out after scoring 12 runs in 41 balls.
Joshua Da Silva though held firm and showed great resistance at the crease. He was the last West Indies wicket to fell on Day 4. K Braithwaite’s marathon knock got ended with a peach of a delivery from Jack Leach in the 169th over. The West Indies captain played a sensational knock of 160 runs in 215 balls. His heroics with the bat helped the team reach a 411-run total in the second innings. What that meant was England were 96 runs ahead before the start of their second innings.
For England, Jack Leach was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed 3 wickets for 118 runs in 69.5 overs.
Alex Lees and Zak Crawley came out to bat in the last session of the day. Alex Lees got out after scoring 24 runs in 57 balls but Zak Crawley stayed unbeaten on 26 off 53. England were 53 for 1 at stumps on Day 4.
