England vs Pakistan: England’s limited over’s skipper, Eoin Morgan is back leading the side as ECB announced the squad for the upcoming T20 series against Pakistan on Wednesday.
Experienced campaigners such as Jonny Bairstow, Jason Roy, Moeen Ali, and Jos Buttler have all made their return to the squad. All the players have undergone the mandatory quarantine period following the ODI series against Sri Lanka and have returned with negative Covid-19 results.
Ben Stokes, who led the England Team in the recently concluded ODI series against Pakistan, has been rested for the T20 internationals. Saqib Mahmood earned his maiden T20 international call-up following a sensational performance in the ODI series. Mahmood was adjudged as the Players of the series, claiming 9 wickets at an average of 13.66. Besides, Matt Parkinson and Lewis Gregory have also been added to the squad.
Head coach, Chris Silverwood will depart for a park as Paul Collingwood will oversee the team as the head coach for the T20 series.
Speaking on the selection, Silverwood stated, “We have selected a T20 squad that sees the return of many of our most experienced players after their period of isolation.
“Additionally, we have rewarded some of the players involved in the 50-over series win with selections which allows us to manage multi-format players as we prepare for the much-anticipated Test series against India.”
Silverwood also praised Ben Stokes for leading England to a 3-0 win over Pakistan in the ODI series.
“I would like to express my thanks to Ben Stokes and the players for their efforts over the last week, and the counties for their support in getting this series on.”
