England has lost five wickets for 154 at tea on Day 1 of the last Test against India on Thursday. England former skipper Michael Vaughan, who criticized the pitch for England’s loss in the third Test, has lashed out at England batsman for not batting to their potential in the ongoing Test. According to him, the pitch is perfect for a big score, but the English batsmen haven’t been able to make the most of it.
“England’s batting so far worse than any of the last few Tests … This Pitch is a perfect surface to get a big first-innings score … No spin … Ball coming onto the Bat … Very poor Batting so far … #INDvENG,” He tweeted
The pitch has perhaps assisted seamers, unlike the previous Test held on the same ground. Mohammed Siraj, who has replaced Jasprit Bumrah in the playing XI, has taken two wickets. He accounted for two important wickets of Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root.
Axar Patel claimed the wickets of both the openers. He got rid of Zak Crawley and Dominic Sibley for 9 and 2 respectively. Ben Stokes, who scored his first half-century of the Test series departed off Washington Sundar after making a valuable 55 off 121 balls.
Ollie Pope and Daniel Lawrence are currently at the crease and look solid in the middle. England is currently 188 for 7 after 70 overs in the first innings.
