England batsman Ollie Pope has been ruled out of the ongoing Test match against Pakistan due to a shoulder injury. The right-handed batsman is set to undergo a surgery on his shoulder on Tuesday. Ollie had injured his shoulder even last year while playing against Surrey and this time he got injured while saving a boundary.
Pope only managed to scored three runs in England’s first innings as they went on to score a massive 583/3 at the Ageas Bowl. After he sustained injury, James Bracey replaced him as a substitution while fielding the whole day.
“He’s obviously banged his shoulder again, so he will go for a scan on that, and we’ll assess from there, really. he’ll know more once he’s had a scan.” England coach Chris Silverwood said.
The 22-year-old was ruled out of the Ashes series last year but he said it was a “blessing in disguise” for him as he could improve his game by working on his techniques.
Pakistan is still trailing by 210 runs as they are currently 100/2 at the end of the day 4. England is already in a strong position as they only need 8 wickets to win this Test match and also win the series by 2-0.
