The first Test between India and England didn’t end on a good note as rain played spoilsport on the fifth day. As a result, the first Test ended in a draw. Amidst it all, a 31-year old British Indian fan has recently made headlines for sharing an experience of English fans aiming racial slurs at the Indian players. She was later subjected to racial abuse herself when she chose to spoke up.
She stated that the English fans referred to Mohammad Shami as ‘Sh**y Shami”, when the bowler was standing near the ropes while fielding. They even called Indian skipper Virat Kohli as ‘wa**er Kohli’ upon losing a review.
The woman then raised the matter to the stewardship, upon which all those people were ejected from the venue. Once the incident settled down, the woman moved to the stand which was mostly populated with the Indians. Though, Indian players didn’t hear anything of that sort and didn’t register any complaint.
India and England will play the third Test from 12th August to 16th August 2021. India at an upper hand until the fifth day of the first Test. On the final day of the Test, India needed 157 runs with nine wickets in hand. Earlier, India bundled out England for just 183 runs in the first innings and made 278 in the second innings.
Jasprit Bumrah starred with the ball, picking nine wickets in the game. He picked a four-for in the first innings and followed it up with a five-wicket haul in the second innings.
