The governing council of Indian Premier League (IPL) has decided to call a meeting next week to review ‘IPL’s various sponsorship details’ including the one with title sponsor VIVO.
To review the IPL sponsorship is an aftermath of the tensions rising between India and China borders on Galwan valley earlier this week.
The mobile firm sponsors the event with INR 440 crore annually and the BCCI have signed a 5-year deal with them, back in 2018. It is obvious that the agenda of the meeting is to take a final call on whether to use the exit clause in the deal or continue the same till 2022.
Arun Dhumal, treasurer of BCCI, had earlier told that while Chinese sponsorship (VIVO) was helping the Indian economy, the board would always put the nation first case of a tough situational decision to be made.
