After losing the Test series against India, England would look to make a strong comeback ahead of the five-match T20 series, starting from Friday. Both sides are preparing for the much-awaited series.
Meanwhile, English batsman, Sam Billings, who is part of England’s 16-man squad for the series, hailed Eoin Morgan’s success in the limited over’s cricket. Billings reckons that Morgan, over the last few years, has scaled great heights. He expressed his desire to emulate his skipper’s success and become a batsman who’s difficult to bowl to.
“You look at Eoin Morgan’s numbers over the last few years and they’ve been absolutely phenomenal. The way he has transformed his game and kept on moving [it] forward is something I really want to emulate and continue. I just want to be tricky to bowl at,” ESPNcricinfo quoted Billings as saying.
Billings looks excited to be a part of the part of England squad. He is looking forward to putting runs behind his back and contribute to the team’s cause. At the same time, the English cricketer understands that India is one of the toughest sides in their home conditions and it won’t be easy to dominate their bowling attack.
“Last year was the best year for me in an England shirt by a mile, because of that consistency. It started against Ireland and I managed to maintain that. That’s the challenge. I’m really excited for the next few months and the opportunities ahead with Delhi at the IPL afterwards as well. I’m in as good a place as I can be to challenge for a spot in the side, and I just want to make a spot my own,” Billings said.
All the matches of the T20 series will be played at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium. The first T20I will be played on 12th March 2021.
