In a bid to promote women’s cricket globally and attract more nations, the International Cricket Council (ICC) have added more events in the post-2023 cycle. The sports body recently announced all the women’s cricket events that will be held after the 2023 cycle.
As per the reports, more numbers of teams are likely to participate in the events. Also, the ICC will provide the window to the members to prepare themselves for the international stage. ‘
Madoversports understands that two 50-over World Cup would be held in the year 2025 and 2029. Furthermore, four T20 World Cups would be played in the year 2024, 2026, 2028, and 2030.
ICC has also come up with a new tournament called the Women’s T20 National Cup. The competition will be held in 2027 and 2031.
Manu Sawhney, ICC Chief Executive said, “We have a clear focus and commitment to an ambitious long-term growth plan for the women’s game. We have been building momentum around the women’s game for the last four years investing in global broadcast coverage and marketing to drive fan engagement.
“The results speak for themselves with the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 attracting record numbers, 1.1 billion video views, making it the most-watched women’s cricket event of all time and having 86,174 fans attending the final at the MCG, a record attendance for a women’s cricket event.”
The final of the ICC 2020 T20 World Cup between India and Australia saw an attendance of more than 80,000 people, which is the highest attendance in a single game in the history of Women’s cricket.
