ICC ODI rankings: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday released the latest ICC ODI rankings. The latest rankings also have Sri Lanka players gain some points in the ODI Player’s Rankings after the Bangladesh tour last week.
Sri Lanka averted a series of whitewash against Bangladesh after a comprehensive 97-run victory in the final ODI game. Sri Lankan team captain Kusal Parera and fast-bowler Dushmantha Chameera have made major gains owing to their stellar performances in the match. Dhananjaya de Silva and Hasaranga have also moved up several positions in the rankings.
The Player of the Match, Chameera jumped up 27 positions. The 29-year old took a fifer for 16 in the match, helping him achieve his career-best 33rd rank. Parera, who started the series at rank 55, advanced to the 42nd position. He smashed his sixth ODI ton to earn the position.
Dhananjaya de Silva’s 55 run knock helped him move up 10 positions in the batsmen rankings while he moved up seven positions in the all-rounders rankings. On the other hand, spinner Hasanranga rose up the rankings to take up the 51st position.
From the Bangladesh side, Mahmudullah’s 53 that helped the team seal the series 2-1 helped him rise up to the 36th position. Mosaddek Hussain’s 51 helped him moved up 12 positions. Taskin Ahmed leapt up to the 88th rank.
As for the top three rankings in the batsman category, team India skipper Virat Kohli and hitman Rohit Sharma have retained their 2nd and the 3rd positions. Babar Azam continues to reign as the No. 1 batsman in the ICC ODI Rankings.
Speaking of the team rankings, New Zealand sits at the top of the table with rating 121. While Australia (rating 118) and India (rating 115) occupy the 2nd and the third positions, respectively.
