The Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI ) on Friday finalized the venues for the upcoming edition of the ICC T20 World Cup. The T20 World Cup is scheduled to take place between the October-November window in India.
The board finalized the venues as hosts for the tournament and also included four venues such as Ahmedabad, Chennai, Lucknow, and Hyderabad.
In fact, as per some sources, the finals of the tournament will take place at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
“The nine venues have been informed and it was again discussed that preparations should continue for the showpiece event with an eye on the Covid-19 situation and a call will only be taken closer to the event. It is too early to imagine what can or will happen in October-November with regards to the coronavirus situation. But preparations shall be on,” one of the BCCI sources told ANI.
The source also said that players of all the countries will get assured visas for coming to India stating: “Yes, all participants will get visas.”
The board is looking to kickstart the domestic season from September this year but still relying on the ‘wait and watch’ policy considering the next wave of COVID-19 if it hits the country.
“There were discussions on the domestic calendar as well as the BCCI is very serious about it and we are looking at September to kickstart the season with the Mushtaq Ali and then the 50-over and days format, but then have to see how things pan out. You cannot guess the future in these circumstances,” the source said.
