ICC Test Rankings: India’s memorable win in the fourth Test at Kennington Oval saw some terrific performances from the likes of Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja to name a few. Rohit Sharma has been in phenomenal form in the ongoing Test series.
The Hitman notched his first-ever overseas hundred in the fourth Test and helped India set a 368-run target against England. His exceptional performance in the fourth Test has helped him strengthen his position at number five in the ICC Test rankings for batsmen. He has now gained a 30 rating points lead over Virat Kohli in the rankings.
Jasprit Bumrah impressed one and all with his exploits in England’s second innings. His exceptional spell on a flat wicket on the final day of the Test received plaudits across the globe. It was Bumrah who triggered England’s collapse after picking the important wickets of Ollie Pope and Jonny Bairstow. Jasprit Bumrah is currently the second-highest wicket-taker in the series 18 wickets to his name. His exceptional performances have helped him climb to number nine in the ICC Test rankings for bowlers with 771 rating points.
Ravindra Jadeja also accounted for the wickets of Haseeb Hameed and Moeen Ali in England’s second innings and overall picked 4 wickets in the match. He remains third in the ICC Test rankings for all-rounders behind Jason Holder and Ben Stokes.
Indian all-rounder, Shardul Thakur was opted ahead of Ravi Ashwin in the fourth Test at Kennington Oval. Thakur ensured he made the most of his opportunity as he smashed half-centuries in both innings. His performances helped him gain 59 places to 79th position in the ICC Test rankings for batters.
India and England will play the fifth Test match at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester from 10th to 14th September 2021.
