Indian team opener Rohit Sharma has cleared that he is not visualizing the upcoming five-match T20I series against England as a rehearsal for the T20 World Cup set to happen in India later this year. The player did subtly indicate that he believes performing well in the series may bring them desirable results for the upcoming competition.
“You are playing for India, your country, and there’s no rehearsal here. It doesn’t matter which opposition you are playing against; you are wearing the national jersey and going out. For us, it is important to win the series and do our best. If you focus on the present, the future will be bright. We need to do the little things right,” speaking at a press conference in Ahmedabad.
“It’s a five-match series, it’s a long series, we need to see where we stand as individuals and as a team but there’s no time for rehearsal. We need that mindset of winning each and every game that we play here.”
The T20I between the two teams is set to commence from Friday. India might be having a great boost of confidence for the upcoming series after emerging victorious in the four-match Test series against England by 3-1 and making it into the ICC World Test Championship final.
