After a lot of brainstorming, the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) has finalized the playing XI for the third Test of the four-match Test series against Australia. BCCI named the playing XI for the Pink Test on Wednesday.
A number of adjustments have been made to the team that brilliantly won the second Test at Melbourne.
Senior batsman Rohit Sharma, the vice-captain of the team, has made his much-anticipated comeback in the team. Opener Mayank Agrawal has been dropped from the team to make way for Sharma.
Navdeep Saini is all set to make his Test debut after being named in the playing XI. He was picked up over Shardul Thakur as a replacement for the injury-struck Umesh Yadav. Saini will fill for the third fast-bowlers slot. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj are the two other pacers chosen for the Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).
Siraj was chosen as a replacement for Mohammed Shami in the second Test, who was ruled out due to injury. Siraj impressed all with his brilliant Test debut, dismissing five wickets in the match, justifying his selection for the next match.
India could choose to drop their spearhead Bumrah, who will also serve has the guide for the youngsters in the team.
