After leading the Indian team to a victory in the 2nd T20 International, Hardik Pandya gained praise all over the internet. The swashbuckling all-rounder scored 42 runs off just 22 balls and smashed two sixes in the final over leading India to a 6-wicket win over Australia.
Now the former Indian all-rounder Mohammad Kaif has called for Pandya’s inclusion in the Indian Test team for the upcoming Test series against Australia.
Kaif said that the 27-year-old should stay in the Test side which will strengthen the Indian team in the four-match Test series. He praised the Pandya for his scintillating average in the white-ball cricket averaging 90 in the ODI and two T20I matches so far.
He took to his Twitter handle and posted: “@hardikpandya7, with an average of nearly 90, has emerged as India’s go-to batsman in white-ball cricket, behind @imVkohli. Time is ripe for Hardik to be added to the Test squad, in this red hot form worth holding him back in Australia”
Hardik Pandya scored 210 runs in the ODI and T20I series so far with two 90+ scores in the ODI series that India lost by 2-1. Despite his meticulous performance, he has not been listed in the Test team in the ongoing tour.
After winning the Man of the match award in the second T20I, Pandya spoke about his take on playing in Test cricket, he said, “It is a different ball-game, I do not mind if they ask me to stay back for the Test matches, the call lies with the team management, I cannot say much about it.”
