Australian newcomer opener Will Pucovski has been ruled out of the fourth Test between India and Australia to be played at the Gabba from January 15.
Pucovski was ruled out of the match owing to his shoulder injury that he injured while fielding during the fifth day of the third Test between the two teams at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). He failed the fitness test today morning and was ruled out of the playing XI.
With Pucovski ruled out, Marcus Harris will replace him to bat in the top-order and partner-up with David Warner.
“He tried to train this morning and didn’t quite come up,” Captain Tim Paine said about Pucovski.
“He’ll have a bit of work to do with our medicos to see where he goes from here, but he’s obviously missing this Test match and Marcus Harris will replace him,” Paine added.
The rookie player had made his test debut last week and opening for the Australian team, he played a brilliant game in the first innings. He smashed 62 runs in the first innings. However, he couldn’t maintain his momentum in the second innings and could manage only 10 runs in 16 balls.
