Indian spearhead bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been released from the squad for the fourth Test against England that begins on March 4 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Gujarat. Bumrah stated personal reasons to take leave from the final Test.
“Jasprit Bumrah made a request to BCCI to be released from India’s squad ahead of the fourth Test owing to personal reasons. Accordingly, the fast bowler has been released and he will not be available for selection for the fourth Test,” BCCI confirmed in an official statement.
The board has made it clear that they wouldn’t be replacing any member of the squad. India has two prospect bowlers to include in the playing XI in the fourth Test, Mohammad Siraj and Umesh Yadav. Siraj has replaced Bumrah in the second Test as the player was rested for the team’s workload management. Umesh Yadav, who had suffered an injury during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, is back in the squad after his recovery.
Bumrah featured in two matches of the four-match Test series and scalped total wickets wickets in the matches.
With their resounding victory in the day-night Test in Ahmedabad that wrapped up within two days, India now leads the series by 2-1.
