On the first day of the second Test between India and England at the MA Chidambaram stadium, England all-rounder Moeen Ali achieved a one of a kind feat by scalping Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s wicket. Ali has become the first spin bowler to take Kohli’s wicket for a duck.
Moeen Ali dismissed Kohli by a stunning delivery during the first session of the game on Saturday that left the Indian skipper dumbstruck for minutes on the crease. Kohli had played only five balls before his time on the crease came to an end in the 22nd over.
This is also the 11th occasion when captain Kohli has been dismissed for zero runs in the Test format. Previously, ten bowlers have had the opportunity to do so, all pacers.
On the first day of the second Test, team India chose to bat after winning the toss. The visitors, however, did not get a great start as they lost crucial wickets in the early overs of the match. Shubham Gill (0) was the first to walk out of the crease after getting dismissed by pacer Olly Stone.
Chetehwar Pujara was the second to fall after scoring 21 runs in 58 balls. However, Rohit Sharma kept it together for the team as he ensure the team’s score kept moving at a decent pace. Rohit smashed a century in 130 balls, Ajinkya Rahane entered in the 23rd over after Kohli went back to the pavilion and built a strong partnership with Rohit Sharma.
Rohit Sharma completed 161 runs before surrendering to the attacks of Jack Leach. India is currently at 248 runs at a loss of four wickets.
