England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) informed on Thursday that England top-order batsman Zak Crawly had been ruled out of the first two Tests between India and England to be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Zak Crawly sustained a wrist injury during the England team’s practice session in Chennai. Scans revealed that the player that jarred his right wrist leading to a sprained joint.
“Following the results of last night’s scan, England top-order batsman Zak Crawley has been ruled out of the first two Tests of the India versus England series,” ECB said in their official statement.
“Scan results have confirmed that Crawley has jarred his right wrist, which has sprained the joint and led to local inflammation.”
ECB further informed that a medical team will monitor Crawly’s progress for the coming weeks.
India is set to play a four-match Test series against England starting February 5. While the first two Tests will be played in Chennai, the third (day-night Test) and the fourth Test are scheduled to be played at the Motera Stadium in Gujarat.
