
IND vs SA 2021: Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the Test series against South Africa due to a left hamstring injury. Priyank Panchal who led India A team during the just-concluded three-match series has replaced the opener in the test series. However, the vice-cpatain for the test series is not announced yet by the BCCI
According to reports, Rohit Sharma who was practicing at the Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai for the last one week has suffered an injury during one of those practice sessions. It is not clear if Rohit will be available for the three-match ODI series for which he was named as the captain but it can be confirmed that the nature of his injury is quite serious.
Rohit Sharma has complained of discomfort to the support staff at the practice session on Sunday when he spoke about white ball captaincy in an interview with bcci. tv. Rohit was taken for tests by the physios on Monday & then the serious nature of Rohit’s injury came to light.
Rohit Sharma didn’t check into the Mumbai hotel where the other members of the touring Indian team are undergoing three days of mandatory quarantine. Sources have revealed that the BCCI has relaxed all the bio-security protocols for those who are traveling to South Africa with their families & are staying in Mumbai. They have been advised of home quarantine. Same way Virat Kohli has also not checked into the hotel.
Sharing a glimpse of Priyank Panchal’s career, the Gujrat-based batsman has featured in 100 first-class matches amassing 7011 runs at an average of 45.52 & has registered 24 centuries on his name. Priyank Panchal has scored 120 runs for India A at an average of 40 in three innings with a high score of 96 against South Africa A.
