IND vs SA: South Africa beat India by 4 wickets to take a 2-0 lead in the series on Sunday at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. South Africa restricted India to 148 runs in the first innings. Ruturaj Gaikwad, once again, got out early for just 1 run off 4 balls. Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer then stitched a 45-run partnership to lead the recovery.
Ishan Kishan was looking dangerous but Anrich Nortje got him with a fierce bouncer in the 4th over. Kishan got out after scoring 34 runs in 21 balls, including 2 fours and 3 sixes.
Shreyas Iyer, on the other hand, struggled to score runs against the Pacers. He later changed gears when spinners came into the attack but the pressure was building. Shreyas Iyer got out after scoring 40 runs in 35 balls.
The likes of Rishabh Pant (5), Hardik Pandya (9), and Axar Patel (10) all failed to hit the straps. Dinesh Karthik’s 21-ball 30, in the end, helped the team reach a respectable score of 148 on the board.
In reply, South Africa didn’t make a great start with the bat. Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled beautifully and picked the wickets of Hendricks (4), Rassie van der Dussen (4), and Pretorius (1) in the first six overs. South Africa was in trouble at 29 for 3 inside the power play.
However, Heinrich Klaasen then joined hands with Temba Bavuma and the duo added 64 runs for the 4th wicket. Chahal broke the partnership after picking the wicket of Bavuma (35 off 30) in the 13th over, however, Klaasen kept smashing boundaries to all parts of the ground.
He played a sensational match-winning knock of 81 runs in 46 balls and helped the team reach the target in 18.2 overs.
