IND vs SL: India has put in another dominant performance on the second day of the first Test at IS Bindra Stadium on Saturday. Ravindra Jadeja stole the show with the bat as he played a sensational unbeaten knock of 175 runs in 228 deliveries.
He put on 100-run partnership stands with Rishabh Pant, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Mohammed Shami to take India to a mammoth score of 574 runs for 8 wickets in 129.2 overs before Rohit Sharma declared the innings. Ravichandran Ashwin gave Jadeja valuable support as he managed to score 61 runs in 82 balls. Mohammed Shami too showed great resilience for his 20 off 34 balls but the man who stole the show was Ravindra Jadeja.
The southpaw hit 17 fours and 3 sixes en-route to his 175-run knock off 228 balls. As for Sri Lanka, the likes of Lakmal, Embuldeniya, and Dhananjaya de Silva all picked two wickets each.
In pursuit of that score, Sri Lanka has already lost four wickets for just 108 runs on the board. Ashwin got the first breakthrough in the form of Lahiru Thirimanne (17 off 60) before Jadeja got Karunaratne leg-before with a beautiful delivery. He made 28 off 71 balls, a knock which was laced with 5 fours.
Jasprit Bumrah outfoxed Pathum Nissanka with a slower delivery, but it eventually turned out to be a no-ball. Bumrah, however, continued bowling great deliveries and eventually had Mathews (22 off 39) leg-before in the 34th over of the innings. Dhananjaya de Silva didn’t show a lot of resilience as he got out leg-before off Ashwin in the 39th over. Pathum Nissanka (26 off 75) and Charith Asalanka (1 off 12) are currently unbeaten at the crease. Sri Lanka is currently trailing by 466 runs at the end of day 2 of the first Test.
