IND vs SL: As per the latest reports, Indian skipper Shikhar Dhawan won’t be participating in the remaining two T20 internationals against Sri Lanka as he has also been termed as a close contact of Krunal Pandya, who tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday.
Following the incident, the India squad has booked the entire Taj Samudra hotel in Colombo to avoid another COVID-19 fiasco.
Shikhar Dhawan now joins the list of Indian players, who are said to be in close contact with Pandya. Earlier, eight players were ruled out of the remaining two games for the same reason.
Hardik Pandya, Yuzvendra Chahal, Suryakumar Yadav, Prithvi Shaw, Manish Pandey, Ishak Kishan, and Krishnappa Gowtham were the players that were deemed to be in contact and entered isolation as a result.
Though the above-mentioned players have been tested negative for the virus, they won’t be participating in the remaining games due to precautionary measures set in place. All these players will undergo another round of RT-PCR tests on Wednesday.
Amidst the current scenario, the second T20 international is likely to see some new players donning the Indian jersey. With Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw both being ruled out, it remains to be seen which two Indian players open in the second match.
Also, who will captain the Indian team is also something to look at. Indian youngster, Devdutt Padikkal and Rituraj Gaekwad might get to make their debut in the T20 internationals.
