IND vs SL T20I: India and Sri Lanka will take on each other in the third and final T20 international of the series on Sunday, February 27, at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium. India has already claimed the series by a 2-0 margin, having won both the games played so far. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, are still looking to find their first win on the tour. Unlike the first T20I, Sri Lanka produced some fights with both bat and ball in the second T20 international.
Riding on valuable contributions from Pathum Nissanka and Dasun Shanaka, Sri Lanka managed to compile a fighting score of 183 runs in the first innings. Nissanka, who got out on the very first ball he faced in the first ODI, played a brilliant knock of 75 runs in 53 balls in the second T20 international on Saturday. Later, Dasun Shanaka played an outstanding knock of 47 runs in just 19 deliveries to help Sri Lanka reach a formidable score on the board.
As for the Indian bowling, Jasprit Bumrah (1 for 24) and Yuzvendra Chahal (1 for 27) were outstanding. However, the likes of Harshal Patel (1 for 52), Bhuvneshwar Kumar (1 for 36) and Ravindra Jadeja (1 for 37) didn’t impress that much.
India didn’t make a great start with the bat in pursuit of the total. Rohit Sharma (1 for 2) and Ishan Kishan (16 off 15) both got out early. However, Sanju Samson and Shreyas Iyer then stitched a brilliant partnership to lead a remarkable recovery.
Samson made 39 off 25 balls, while Shreyas Iyer stayed right till the end. He played an unbeaten knock of 74 runs off just 44 deliveries, while Ravindra Jadeja contributed 45 off 18 balls. Thanks to all those contributions, India managed to chase down the score in 17.1 overs. India has already won the series and thus you might see a few changes taking place in the playing XI for the third game on Sunday.
