IND vs SL T20I: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Saturday, February 26, that batter Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out of the ongoing T20I series against Sri Lanka following an injury.
Gaikwad had complained of pain in his right wrist joint ahead of the first T20I in Lucknow on Thursday that the team won by 62 runs. Following this, he was sent for examination by the BCCI Medical Team. The team later conducted an MRI scan which confirmed his injury. The batter will now head to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for further management of his injury and rehabilitation.
The national cricket governing body has named Mayank Agarwal as his replacement in the squad for the remaining matches of the series.
“The All-India Senior Selection Committee has added Mayank Agarwal to India’s squad for the remaining two T20Is. Mayank has joined the team in Dharamsala,” the BCCI stated in an official release.
India has taken a 1-0 lead in the series, having won the first game by 62 runs, India is now set to square off with Sri Lanka in their second T20I encounter set to be held at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala, on Saturday. On the other hand, the final match of the three-match T20I series will take place on Sunday, February 27, at the same venue.
