IND vs SL T20I series: The second T20 international between India and Sri Lanka is scheduled to be played Saturday at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. India has taken a 1-0 lead in the series, having won the first game by 62 runs. Batting first, they managed to score 199 runs in 20 overs. Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma gave the team an outstanding start.
The duo managed to put on 111 runs for the opening wicket. Rohit Sharma was the first one to get out in the 12th over of the innings after scoring 44 runs off 32 balls. Ishan Kishan, however, went on to score a sensational knock of 89 runs in 56 deliveries. Shreyas Iyer, later, played a vital 57-run knock in just 28 balls to guide the team to a formidable score on the board.
All the Sri Lankan bowlers who bowled at least three overs went for more than 8 runs an over. The bowling unit looked lacklustre in the absence of Theekshana and Hasaranga. Both of them have been ruled out of the series and it will be difficult for them to produce a fight with the ball in the next two games.
In response to the score, Sri Lanka could only manage to score 137 runs in the second innings. In-form batsman, Pathum Nissanka got out on the very first ball he faced. The likes of Kamil Mishara (13) and Janith Liyanage (11) failed to impress. Charith Asalanka was the only one who held firm and scored a half-century but he didn’t find any support at the other end.
India bowled beautifully despite the due coming in the second innings. Yuzvendra Chahal (1 for 11) and Ravindra Jadeja (1 for 28) were brilliant in the middle overs, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2 for 9) and Bumrah (0 for 19) also started off well. Ahead of the second game on Saturday, you don’t expect a lot of changes to take place in the India team.
