IND vs WI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced an 18 member men’s squad for their upcoming white-ball series against West Indies.
ODI skipper Rohit Sharma, having recuperated from his hamstring injury that he sustained just before the series against South Africa, is all set to make his comeback in international cricket with the series that is starting February 6. The series will also see left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who last played competitive cricket six months ago, make his comeback in the side. Moreover, Rajasthan batter Deepak Hooda has received his maiden call-up in the squad.
Pacer Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami have been rested, while Ravindra Jadeja is ongoing his final stage of recovery following a knee injury, hence will be unavailable for the series.
In addition, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Axar Patel have been included in the squad for T20Is, while vice-captain KL Rahul will be missing out on the first ODI and will be available from the second ODI onwards.
Senior spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, after a disappointing stint against South Africa, in their freshly concluded series, has been replaced by Washington Sundar, who has recovered from Covid-19.
Among other call-ups include Ravi Bishnoi, who has been roped in by the newly formed Lucknow Supergiants IPL team, and Avesh Khan, both of whom feature in the ODI as well as the T20I setup.
India and West Indies are slated to play three ODIs, starting from 6th February. The two countries will then play three T20 internationals, which will be played between 16th and 20th February 2022.
The BCCI has changed the dates and locations for the West Indies series, scheduling the ODIs in Ahmedabad on February 6, 9, and 11, and the T20s in Kolkata on February 16, 18, and 20.
